E-Commerce Failure Case Study
If you haven't read how we started our e-commerce journey, I explained how we started e-commerce in the first post I wrote. After our bumpy Amazon adventure, we decided to take a break for a while.
Because our account was permanently suspended due to the strict policies of Amazon and as young people who are new to e-commerce, we did not know what to do. We had taken a break for a while and during this time we were going to focus on our university and pay off some accumulated debts.
After a year break, I decided to do something on my own again. And I started researching how to sell on eBay. But this time I was more cautious and patient. Also, I did not have the products manufactured at first for trial purposes.
I made an agreement with a company that produced the products I wanted to sell, and if the products I listed were sold, I bought from that company and sent them to the customers.
At the end of 5 months, things were going well, although not much, there was some gain. But I realized that things weren't quite right for me.
Because we have to play according to the rules of the platform on sites such as eBay, Amazon, and Etsy, and this can be boring after a while for some people who want innovation. So I transferred my eBay store to him at an affordable price at the offer of a close friend.
While researching platforms where I can do more independent e-commerce, I met Woocommercle. I was selling fitness products from here and things were fine until the end of last year. But we started this business as two partners and since I had some problems, I left this job by handing over all the work to him and taking my share.
I have been helping people market and sell their products on Shopify, Woocommerce, and similar platforms, using my experiences in e-commerce.
This is what I learned on this e-commerce journey:
taking cautious steps keeps you away from failure, in the long run,
don't get into debt more than you can pay if you don't have enough capital
as soon as you think you don't enjoy the job, walk away from it. You may regret it in the long run
stay adapted and be grateful
So what am I planning to do now?
There was still something left inside of me, and as the new year approached, I decided to take a step toward it.
I want to make software that will make the life of e-commerce people easier by using my experience in e-commerce and the software skills that I have been trying to improve myself for a long time.
And I intend to publish most of them here for free.
Even though I am a one-man giant team at the moment, I think this blog will grow and we will sign new things with you. So don't forget to share and follow the blog.
Thank you if you've read this far.
